Coastal Carolina University graduates Class of 2016
Approximately 1,100 students were graduation candidates for Coastal Carolina University's commencement ceremonies on May 6 and 7, 2016, at the HTC Center on campus. Grand Strand businessman and civic leader Dennis L. Wade was the speaker for the event, which consisted of four separate ceremonies.

Eastern Students Perform in Spring Concerts
A number of talented student musicians and vocalists from Eastern Connecticut State University performed in concerts on April 23 and 24. The collaborative concerts included members of Eastern's Concert Chorale, Chamber Singers, Men's and Women's Choirs, Korean Samul Ensemble, String Trio, Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble.

On April 25, Eastern Connecticut State University inducted 43 psychology students into Psi Chi, the international honor society for psychology. Psi Chi's mission is to encourage excellence in scholarship and to foster the advancement of psychological science.

Eastern Students Present Research Posters at CREATE Conference
More than 250 talented students at Eastern Connecticut State University presented research and creative work at the university's second annual CREATE conference this past April. CREATE stands for Celebrating Research Excellence and Artistic Talent at Eastern, and is the university's premier, academic year-end showcase. At the culminating event, students of all majors presented professional posters, live music, dance performances, artwork, photography, documentaries and panel discussions.

68 Students Awarded for Academic Accomplishments at Honors Convocation
Assumption College honored 68 students with awards for academic excellence during the 32nd Annual Honors Convocation, held on April 20 in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit. Awards ranged from departmental honors to special recognitions, to Augustine Scholarships, the College's highest academic honor.

Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department presents Grease for one weekend only, April 15-17
The Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department and Theatre League are pleased to present "Grease" – the three-time Tony Award-nominated musical about 10 working-class high school seniors, that is as popular today as when it premiered in 1971 – as the fourth and final show in the department's 2015-2016 production season. The show will run for one weekend only: April 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. and April 17 at 2 p.m.; in the Callahan Theater at Nazareth College Arts Center. "Grease" features a student cast, orchestra, and crew.

Eastern Concert Chorale Performs in Inaugural Concert at New Fine Arts Building
Earlier in the Spring Semester the Music Program at Eastern Connecticut State University presented the first concert held in Eastern's new state-of-the art Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC). The historical concert, comprised of Eastern students, faculty, staff and local community members, was one of the first to combine nearly every vocal and instrumental ensemble, making it a truly collaborative performance.

Thirteen named to Assumption College's 2015-2016 Women's Basketball Team
The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced the roster for the 2015-16 Assumption College Women's Basketball team. The team began its season with a win over Dominican University at the Assumption College Tip-Off Tournament on November 13. "As a team we continue to fight hard each night in the competitive Northeast-10 Conference," said Kerry Phayre, head coach of the women's basketball team. "There is a lot of season left and we hope to continue to build on the successes we have had so far." The women's basketball team competed throughout the winter, receiving votes in the Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) National Poll, and was ranked fourth in the D2SIDA East Region Poll January 16 poll. The Assumption women's basketball team was also honored with the Thomas Jefferson Award for its outstanding community service work with the Chandler Elementary Community School.

Nazareth College Foreign Languages Department to present Gardenias February 26-27
The Nazareth College Foreign Languages Department will present GARDENIAS, an original, multilingual play by department faculty member, Dr. Candide Carrasco, that will be performed in English with some French, Spanish, and Italian. The performance is recommended for audience members age 12 and up. GARDENIAS runs Friday, February 26, 2016, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, February 27, at 2:30 p.m., in the Callahan Theater at the Nazareth College Arts Center GARDENIAS features a largely student cast and crew.

Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department presents "The Beaux' Stratagem" October 16-25
The Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department and Theatre League are pleased to present "The Beaux' Stratagem," in the delightful style of Comedy of Manners. This is the first mainstage show in the department's 2015-2016 production season. The show will run October 16, 17, 23, and 24 at 8 p.m.; and October 18 and 25 at 2 p.m., in the Callahan Theater at the Nazareth College Arts Center. This romantic comedy complete with 18th century costumes and swordplay will provide Rochester theatergoers with a rare treat. "The Beaux' Stratagem" features a student cast and crew.
